Default should bands be adjusted?

I'm getting ready to change my trans. filter, how hard is it to check the bands while I have the pan off? '99 Dodge 3500, has the 3 speed tranny with elec. overdrive.
I like to do preventative maint. & not wait till it slips ! My truck has about 106,000 miles on it. Would that be time for a little tweek of the bands or no? I was just thinking around the 100 K mark might be a good time. Enlighten me please !

You wouldn't have a link that would help me out with the proper way to perform the band adjustment would you?
