Bulb in the back of the dash. The wait to start and high beam bulbs are the same. Swap them and see which one works, or doesn't work. Happened to me with my high beam indicator bulb. If you have an auto, make sure you disconnect the shift indicator under the steering column.

Just about has to be the bulb. If the light doesn't come on and it isn't the bulb, your truck wouldn't start...

Have to remove the cluster panel. Not very complicated in all reality. Remve the dash bezel, it just pulls out, although you need to be careful not to break any of the tabs that hold it in. Then you will have access to the screws holding the instrument cluster in place. Once you remove them the instrument cluster will just pull out. It's a 15mn job at the most.

Hold on fella, one more VERY important step, if it's an auto. The cable on the steering column under the dash has to be loosened off and removed. this is the cable that indicates what gear you are in. I didn't know about it, and got a little too rammy and busted mine. I shift by feel these days.
