Half the CCA's for 15 seconds. Voltage should not drop below 9.6 volts. That s the proper way to load test a battery.

So just so I know I am right. Lets say I have a 500 cca battery. After 15secs it souldnt be below 250?

No wrong again. With a 500cca battery, you put a 250 ( half the rated cca ) amp load on it for 15 seconds with a carbon pile type tester and your battery should not drop below 9.6 volts.

Okay I got ya I think.....

Your saying that your load tester has some sort of adjustment on it. Mine does not, it just has a gauge that reads off your CCA's when you flip a switch for 10secs. I know it has a heatin element in it.

Oh, those are, um....... not that great, we'll call it.

This is a cheaper carbon pile. It will put an actual load on the battery that is significant. That other one barely puts a load on the battery, and can't truly test a batteries condition. Essentially it is testing the surface charge, where as a carbon pile tests deep into the batteries performance.

This is very similar to what we have at our shop.

ARGH...... AT WITS END WITH THE TRUCK!!!

Okay so I went this moring to recheck the draw. 0.3 amp constant, and when i touch the meter to terminals it has a 1.2 amp start up, than drops too 0.3 amp. Only fuse that did anything was the 50 AMP BATTERY one in the panel in the engine bay. Is this just a fuse for the batteries or does it run something?
