Well I'll tell ya, I have a 2001 dually 4x4 and when I first got the thing I was also pretty steady at 14mpg. Now last week I took a highway trip 552 miles on a tank of fuel and filled it up with 28.4 gallons. A little over 19mpg
I have never got that kind of mileage. Of course that was running empty. I had the adrenaline on ADR3000 level10 and the smarty set on level 9 with timing. I know a lot of timing but, I was running empty on the highway and it worked great. I can also tell you if you have a weak pump that also affects mileage. And maybe you might want to throw in some rv 275 injectors they also seem to help with mileage. And since you just got the truck with 160000mi on it those may have seen their better days
well now ur proble right since i dont have much of a history befor 160000 mile mark and i have been looking at nozzles from bd diesel and a few other manufatures and a weak pump is a possibilty. i was talking to some guys at the shop today and they all said the same thing that a pump is the last place u want to go first and both of them had the same problem with diesels in the past and the cure was to get rid of them which i hate to do after all the work ive done to it and i like the truck but a pump is where ill probly go next gerrrr now ive talk to some guys who have said they got theirs hot and after that their mpg went to **** and never come back dont know ??????? and the 4.10 gear i know dont help but they are great in a work truck though and as i stated my best freind got a twin to it and some other guys pretty close to a twin and there getting close to if not in the 20s thanks for the comments guys there no such thing as a bad idea
