Default 2001 cummins in a ford f650

i have a cummins/alison trans combination in my ford f-650 motorhome..225 hp..a super c class
the last trip i had the oil gauge in the dash go on and off the whole trip..oil is up on the stick...engine goes into safe mode when the stop engine light comes on...i priced a oil sending unit at dodge for almost 400$..i thought that was a little excessive...when i get settled a little bit ill go to an aftermarket store where i can a much better deal..

any other suggestions?
thx in advance

can you bypass this and just put a manual gauge in to watch it yourself? Seems like a pricey piece that can leave you stranded.

any sugestions who i should contact for gauges?

I would suggest talking with one of our sponsors for guages. You can request price quotes here:

Price Quote - Request A Price - Diesel Bombers

Youll probably need all electric guages due to the distance between the driver and the engine.

As for parts and such - steer clear of Dodge Dealers - try Cummins/Freightliner/ or even Case tractor or other medium truck parts houses. They should have parts for MUCH better prices than Dodge. Agian, a number of our sponsors should be able to hook you up with these parts as well.

what size cummins is it? sounds like you have an oil sending unit going bad there pretty common in the bigger cummins motors also in the detroit's have a shop (or truck stop shop ) check them out you should have 2 of them usally on the driver side

If you get those gauges, and want to VERY cheaply fool the original one, use a resistor. If you can get the specs on the sensor, or measure it when it is reading, find the right resistance, buy a pack of $2 resistors and be done. I've had to do this for diagnostic testing on heavy equipment, works very well.

I have some slightly cheaper options, but this is the best bang for you buck option. Let me know if you have any questions.

Isspro guages are not made in the USA - at least the EV 1's were made in India. You need to step up to Autometer if you want something US made. Ive had my Isspros for many years - never missed a beat.

100 psi definitely is the wrong range for fuel pressure. You want 0-30 psi (max).

If cost is a concern get them to quote you for Issprio EV 1 guages. They are cheaper. You should be able to do a ful pressure guage for $50 (but thats running fuel into the cab).
