Mine did that and it was the oil pressure sending unit. You need to get it from cummins not Dodge about $70 Dodge $250 or so. and if you do a search you can get the same replacement not a supstituted that needs additional computer flashing. $20 + $200 flash.
the part is from a TDR quote and it worked fine without a Dodge computer flash for Me ED

For those of you who have been following this thread or may be finding this on a search, I want to confirm that the oil pressure sending unit is available direct from Cummins under the part # 4921511 as mentioned in a previous post. At least in my 2001, it is a direct replacement and does not require a reflash or any adaptation to work correctly. I did this replacement last evening in my truck and it works perfectly.
Here is a photo of the packaging.

this is the wrong spot for this question for sure (HOPEFULLY A MOD WILL MOVE IT) but,now that its been mentioned it makes me realize ive never seen 1 on mine either........ any suggestions guys?.....does this mean my glow plugs aren't firing? I just bought this truck in may and the temp has always been warm here so far but my truck fires right up every time without hesitation but cooler weather is on the way

I had the same problem with my oil pressure so I bought a new sending unit from Cummins for $67.00. When we tried to install we had the wrong sending unit. We cleaned the old sending unit connector and wire, Bingo all works well. I just returned the new sending unit to Cummins. Good luck.
