I have had 2 CTD's now..the 1st a 99 and I went with a GDP walbro w/big line kit...loved it 17psi constant...problem is you can buy the big line kit but you cant get the walbro with it anymore...big line kit I think is around 150 and you can get a walbro pump on ebay for 100...make sure you get a pressure regulator to restrict the pressure on these walbros....search Glacier Diesel and I am sure he can help you out on piecing it together.

my new truck (to me, see sig) I went with a raptor 100...supports about 500 hp'ish and I love it...install was simple took me about 3 hrs...but I double and tripple check everything...price was 389 plus a friends discount out the door for 355....comes with everything you need....big lines, bango replacement, and adjustable pressure ability...LOVE IT.

What's your Raptor getting for pressure compared to the Walbro?

I would replace all you banjo's if you don't do anything else. A few years ago before I even knew about these diesel forums I replaced my stocker with another stocker and left it the engine bay. Right after I found these forums and immediately ran larger fuel line, moved the stocker back toward the gas tank and added a cheap Pro Comp behind it to do most of the pulling. I put an inline filter in before these 2 pumps also. This was a budget build that cost me about 200 bucks for everything. I also put in a pressure gauge which is worth it's wait in gold. I was getting 28psi at idle and 18 at WOT and 2 years later I could tell one of the pumps were getting tired because I was running 22 at idle and 15 at WOT and just 2 days ago one of the Pro Comp died when I was 2 hours from home. Good thing for the pressure gauge and the second pump. I just went to a parts store and bought a Holley Blue because they do not carry the Blacks, swapped pumps in about 20-30 minutes and I was on my way. This setup lasted 2 years without a problem and the crappy stock Carter is still going.

I am running the Raptor at what it came set at right out of the box...15-16 at idle and it pulls it down to 12ish at WOT....I can adjust it high if I want....my Glacier was at 19-20psi at idle...

28 psi at idle for my money is WAY to high...some people run them that high but from my research and reading, it can do more damage to the injection pump then good for it. the plunger doesnt need that much FP and most people say it actually will hurt it...

20psi is PLENTY, dodge/cummins say the threshold is 5psi (below that "could" cause damage)

just my 2 cents.

I'm looking at replacing mine, I'm curious why you cant just loose the stock lift pump and install a carter thats putting out 100gph and 18psi right off the gas tank for $150 ??

if your going to spend $399 on a raptor fuel pump, you should probably just get the airdog 150 for $499. Its not much more and you get a whole new fuel system up the the vp. I installed mine in my driveway. And i put an ad in here and bought it from a sponsor

You most definetly could do that..problem is those pumps dont last...most of the time the die sooner than the stocker...this truck went through the stock, and two carter's in 83xxx miles with the previous owner...I got the truck from him at 83,565 and a two day old carter pump he put on it for me...frame rail mounted and right out of the box it only put out 10psi at idle and could be drawn down to 4psi at WOT....THEY SUCK...I replaced that RIGHT AWAY...kept everything inplace including the carter on the frame..plugged up the lines and if this RAPTOR ever fails me...switch the lines over switch the signal over prime the system and away I go at 10psi till I get home and order another RAPTOR.

whats the point in wasting the extra money...these are 2nd gen trucks...they dont need the "EXTRA" ohhh and aweeee filtration of the Airdog or Fass....they are not a common rail that needs that 2 micron filtration and are not as harmed by bad filtered fuel...the stock filter will provide all the filtration you could need...extra cant hurt but to me it's like taking a leak in the wind......

My lift pump is now working most of the time but noticed it didn't kick on correctly.I have been keeping a eye on it since I bought truck in Dec. because of this site! The one on it now is a Air-Tex and the previous owner said he put it on a little over a year ago(It was bought at Advanced Auto with lifetime warranty&now they are refusing to replace it because it has went out twice before)and I am on a very limited budget(because of paying cash for truck)It will start(does not have fuel gauge yet!)now but I'm not driving it because I can not afford new injection pump.Im hoping I caught it in time.Does any1 have a good used 1 for sale or what would be my best bet for now(need something I can afford that will last&work good for 3 months so I can save)that's under $300?Pump is on engine block&How hard is install? Thanks for any helpful replies
