I have a question
I'm helping a buddy work on his 99 dodge and Idk what the problem is. He replaced the TPS and when he got it done it started, put out a cloud of black smoke, then died. So he called me. I got there and cracked the line off the filter, no fuel coming out there. So then I cracked the line coming from the lift pump to the filter, no fuel. I pulled the hose coming from the tank into the lift pump and attached a hose into a diesel can, still no fuel at fuel filter. I put a code reader on it and nothing showed up. I'm guessing its a lift pump but I don't want to just replace parts and it not be the right thing. Also guessing i could drop the tank and clean the screen there also. And is there a screen by the lift pump like on my 96 12v. Thanks for ya'lls help.

By this time I am hoping that the fuses have been checked? Good place to start. You could check for power at the fuel pump connector on the engine wire harness. Located at the rear of the engine, drivers side. With the the LP pump is on the block, simply unplug it and test with a multi meter.
When the key is first turned to "run" position, the pump will run for about half a second, then not again until the key returns from the start position. Bumping the key to start then back to run will get you about 8 seconds of power to the fuel pump connector.
Hope it's something simple, but doubt it is. A performance LP fuel system is a excellent investment, but initial cost does hurt the bank a little. Upside is you should never have to buy another one.

Ya i always check fuses first for that reason. i'm supposed to go over there here in a little bit. he was hoping it was simple but when i noticed the lp back and how they tend to go out a little easier in the 24 valves then i told him he'd prob be looking at a new one and just to hope it didnt take out the ip 2
