Default Cheap 4x4 fix?

My truck is kinda wierd.. 1999 3500 sport 4x4 manual..
The front actuator doesn't work. Is there something affordable to fix it?
I like the 200$ 4 lock one but I just got it so I creamed my funds..
Illinois is making me look like a chump!
The "other" guys can get out of a foot of snow.
Front shaft turns in 4x4.. No love from the front diff though.
Is there tech info I can get?
Sorry for the overload of questions.
I NEED to get this working.
Thanks.

The only cheap temporary fix is to pull the actuator and slide the shift fork over to the engaged position and then block the lines with something to keep the actuator from moving. It will be engaged all of the time. I put one of those 4x4 posi-locks on my old 87 wrangler and it worked awsome.

Thats a new kit to a old problem.. It's already been replaced.
I can only assume it's in a line ...This really sucks
I NEED that truck to do my job. And with all this snow.. I'm not getting the job done.

And yes some of those still hold a job..

The last owner gave up.. It was a dirt pile when I got it.. I love it and want to fix it.. I also have 4 feet of 4" stainless Sch 10..

Get the posi-lock, I put one on a friends truck and it worked great. A lot cheeper than an actuator.

I got stuck recently and found out then that my 4wd wasn't engaging. .

Turned out it was a vac line that had come loose... zip tied it back on, and it's worked like a champ ever since. check your lines out real quick.

I ended up just manually engaging it so it won't ever come out .. I drive about 25 miles a day mostly highway and interstate.. So I'm worried about that poor front shaft getting the shaft. I'm hoping to fix it for good soon but it sure makes a huge difference..
