Default 4x4 problems

This morning when I was sitting in the parking lot and noticed the 4x4 lever on my 2007 3500 trx4 had no pressure on it. It just moves freely. It doesn't show on the dash it is in 4x4 when it is in the 4L position. Anyone have any ideas.

I've seen talk about rubber/plastic clips that hold the linkage together. They wear or break and the linkage arm falls off. Hopefully only one end came off and it's still there. Crawl under there and take a look. I've been meaning to add a safety wire or something to mine to catch it if it does come off, just haven't got around to it. It will probably fall off today since I said that.

Yeah it is the plastic clips that break. Instead of replacing the cheap clips, I took some bailing wire and made a permanent fix. The stealership wanted $25 for those two plastic clips.
