Default Thoughts on a Magnaflow muffler

I'm looking at putting a Magnaflow muffler on my 02 to tone it down a little, and see if it picks me up in mileage. Anyone used or have any info on this thought? The muffler is $50, and its a 5" so i'm going to take it down to a 4" with my 4" straight pipe. I'm hoping I get some good info, because I want to get it.

Thanks
Billy D

I have a 4" Magnaflow shortie on the 1st Gen, sounds great. Just enough to take the edge off the straight pipe sound and reduce towing drone. I'd recommend it, for sure.

I've had the same Magnaflow 5 inch since 2003 and it's outlasted 2 tail pipes. Doesn't lower the decibels much, but does get rid of the drone/buzz - as others have said. More like a big resonator....
