Default Axle Swap

I have an '01.5 24valve one ton (DRW) 4X4 w/ 6 speed and 3.54 gearing, posi, ABS, and disc brakes on the rear.

I am considering changing the axles to 4.10's, what are my options for changing the housing to one with 4.10s?

Should I look for another truck and swap out both front and rear housings, or install new gears (ring and pinion) or?

Has anyone ever done his type of swap?

What about swapping out with an earlier truck w/drum brakes and installing my disc setup in their place?

Or perahps it would be easier just doing a R&P swap. Would the carrier need to be changed going from 3.55s to 4.10s?

Are 3.73s or 3.90s available for this Dana 80 rear and Dana 60 front?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

swapping axles will probably be cheaper than changing gears.

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

maybe you can find someone wanting highway gears and trade straight across.

I have a dually with 4.10's and would love to have 3.54's Where ya located?

I would have to agree it would be cheaper and easier to swap rear ends.

Many thanks to all who replied...doesn't look like the complete axle swap is viable...will go w/gears only swap.

After talking with "Lumpdog", I'm going to let him do the swap....

Sincerely,

Dick
