Ok I have access to an injection pump from a local dealer who closed down. It is not a reman it is brand new in the bosch/cummins box with the plastic shrink wrap on the pump. Guy originally said 900.00 but said he won't take less than 1,000.00 now. thanks guys

yes.
that is what one cost for a rebuild and having a good core.
check to make sure that it is original, Bosch did allow only one factory in china to make and pt together the pump for them when they sell there engines complete, there is a company who is selling vp44 pumps claiming to be oem, they are not, they have the OEM shell for the pump, but all the insides are copys and not made in the cummins factory in china, just be careful.

I would be worried if it truly is a new pump (and not remanufactured), that it actually has all the latest updates that were made to the pump to insure greater longevity. I would also be extremely concerned about how long the pump has been sitting on the shelf; it doesn't actually do them any good...
