Personally I wait till after that first oil change that I can't run a magnet around in the used oil and find metal shavings in it. Sometimes this is the first oil change and sometimes it's the third, depends on the build.

If you really want to baby it, change oil after first 20-30 miles. you would be surprised how much dirt and diesel fuel blend into oil. Plus the metal particles from new rings wearing on the freshly cross hatched cylinder wall's. My oil was almost black in color and slightly thinned out from diesel combustion passing by the new rings. The rings dont start sealing until the engine gets hot. I do not have leaky injectors either,I sent them out to oregon fuel injection along with my Zexel pump. You know they are kicking butt too. The message here is keep engines oil clean. This will keep all parts fully lubricated providing a floating non friction running surface for the bearings and rings to ride on while parts are adjusting themselves to each other. Watch your oil! Keep it clean.
