Default valve body or torque converter???

lets say a have some extra money, not alot though. i need to start building up my 47re on an 01 3/4ton cummins. the thing was rebuilt last fall, i have been having problems with the torque converter locking and unlocking for no reason. now i am wanting to know if i should get a valve body or a torque converter first. i dont have a lot of power , just 4" straight pipe, afe intake, stage2 on a hypertech and the wastegate is closed on my turbo. im on a budget but i dont want to buy junk. i really appreciate the help guys.

When it was rebuilt, did they replace the TQ converter? The locking and unlocking is a common elecrtical gremlim. Does it happen when your 45-50 MPH? And when it starts doing this, if you mash on the giggle pedel, does it go away? If so, I would check your grounds and make sure they are nice and clean.

ya, it does it at 45-50 and 35-40, they did replace the tourque converter, i took it back in twice afterwards to fix the problem, and they replaced wires, rerouted wires, did some other electrical buisness, and it hasnt gone away. and they just gave up on it. so im wondering if a new TC and valve body will solve my problem.

Default maybe a fix for you

Try this as it will only cost you some wire, a couple of connectors and a little time. Click here and check it out. I did this and have not had the problem return so far for the last 4,000 miles

Its better to do the TC and VB together, but if you're not gonna turn up the power more until you get both, I'd start with the VB. Simply because it doesn't require that the trans be pulled to install it.

Converter all the way.... Just don't push too much power with a strong locking converter. You will start to swist stuff up.

The valve body is an easy add-on down the line, but the TQ keeps heat down and power where it belongs.

Well... Mac could you explain why it imperative to install a valvebody at the same time? Why would that be important? Why would a vendor here say, it's important to do both at the same time if it wasnt?
