Default G56 in a 2nd. Gen.

Well the 47RE auto in my 01 is on it's last leg and and i'd like to swap it out for a G56 6 speed manual. The auto to manual swap is simple enough however i'm wondering what i'm going to do for a clutch and the hydraulics being as a G56 never came in a 2nd. gen. ram.

i would get that auto built by one of the many high end diesel builders out there...Goerend, Suncoast, DTT to name a few

From what i've read the swap requires a lot of bashing to get the bigger g56(compared to the nv5600) Then there's the shortening of the driveshafts.

Any reason why a g56? they themselves are not bulletproof. They have problems with their input shaft bearings IIRC.

Just wanted to do something different and I like the shift pattern of the G56 better than the NV5600.

The NV5600 is a great tranny but parts and even the trannies themselves are an issue to find when you need em. I wish somebody would do this G56 swap so we'd know how it turns out.
