Default P0216...But...

Whats up fellas. I got the dreaded P0216 (Injection Pump Timing Failure) code today. But, I ran it out of fuel (guage obviously is off). After I put fuel in it and cracked line 1 and 4, it started right up and ran fine. Is the pump dead or did the low/no fuel cause it to throw the code? Did I hurt the pump? I have a gauge and did not notice a pressure drop until it stalled.

Lack of lubrication damaged the internals, but obviously not enough to leave you stranded. All I can say is stay close to home.

Most likely damaged. NEVER run a diesel out of fuel.

Clear the code and if its dead - the code will should soon come back.
