Default Long Cranking Before Starts

About 3 weeks ago i started having a problem with my truck not starting! it will start after about 10 seconds or so and it really pulls the batteries down. Sometimes i dont have a problem with it starting! it will start up just fine but for the most part of the time it takes forever. When i turn the key i hear the pump hum for a sec and stop! then turn the key and it doesnt start. fuel pump kicks in and runs it cycle for about 10 seconds and normaly it cranks after that. I have just installed the 150 air dog with half inch lines, and a new bosch vp44 about 4 months ago! i was running the quadzilla aderaline! it messed up about 2 weeks ago! it would drop the settings to 00 and freeze the pyro read out! once i cut the truck off it wouldnt start back so i unpluged the chip and it finally cranked? Sent the chip to quadzilla and havent heard back from them! any ideas? is there a check valve, or something on the vp44 that is stuck or something electronic! please help me

Do you have a fuel pressure gauge? When was the last time you ran some injector cleaner through it?

Lucus is one of the best injector cleaners on the market. If your not getting a good mist it would be hard to start. Do you smoke while trying to start? Also is it at 15+psi before you try to starting it?

Lucas is actully one of the lower quality injector cleaners. Theres actully a complete list of additives, It being high in acohol content (IIRC) and low in lubricity puts it pretty low on the list. Most likely after your description of the problem, you're in the need of a fuel filter for starters. Secondly, Most injector cleaners that you can buy off the shelf would make little to no diffrence in spray pattern. Might also look at connector tube o-rings, injector line leaks or a failing VP-44
15lbs is wanted a few seconds after the first few turns. You dont want 15lbs until after the truck has fired. It CAN create hard starts. Not saying anyones wrong just clearing up some facts! Hope this helps.
