fuel pump problems
ok i will try and explane this the best i can! so over the last few month everyonce in a while my fuel pressure would just drop to zero well of course i would imidatly shut the truck off and pull over and try to figure out what was going on well i would turn the key on and could hear the after market carter fuel pump kick on and build pressure so i would start it and usually i wouldn't have any problems for a week or two. well now i start my truck it might make it one minute before total fuel pressure loss if i let it set i can go out and turn the key and the fuel pump kicks right on but again once i start it it sounds great for about a minute then of course it goes off. i am lost any one know what is going on?????

First I would check the voltage and connections on the pump and relay that supplys power to the pump. Next ckeck your fuel filter, you may want to check the gauge or sender . Start simple with this , and then start thinking about a new pump I hope this helps. Even a loose or rusted connection could be a problem. Use a good volt meter like fluke for your readings, look on the pump or the paper work to see operation voltage range, if any pump drops below that range it will cause problems.
