Out of habit, I set my parking brake before I get out of the truck. For some reason when I disengage the parking brake, the light will either not turn off, or will turn off then flash as soon as I put the truck in gear. When i disengage the parking brake it releases all the way.

Any one know what might cause this. It is extremely annoying.

 

Sounds like you have a bad switch on the parking brake lever.

 

I was afraid someone was gonna say that. Where is it and is it hard to replace?

 

It's very simple to replace and doesnt cost much money. Start looking up the arm from the foot pedal and you will see it. Just a switch with two wires and can usually be found at any auto store for a few bucks.

 

Maybe I'll check it out this week before hubby gets home. Then I can add it to my accomplishment list.

My lite stays on once in a while. If I pull the release handle a second time it goes off. The pedal doesn't move but the light goes off. Can't tell you why.

 

99 - i have to do that also once in a while. It's just really really annoying, and it usually happens on days that I'm running late
