Default Water pump woes

So i was driving home from work... when all of the sudden.. SQUEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK

Water every where, and the belts all torn' up.. goody, i had a water pump on order cause it was seaping a little tiny bit when i looked at it 1500 miles ago,

Any thing i should be aware of while doing my W/P ?

I'm hoping to do my KDP at the same time and maybe a nice coolant flush at the same time...

Stupid new thermostat screwing things up....

KDP and water pump.. any thing else i should do while i'm in there ?

While the covers off you need to check all the bolts under it to make sure they are still tight. That's about all I can think of.

The water pump is a simple 10 minute fix as long as the bolts don't snap off tryin to back em out. Easy stuff there.

Be sure to check your hoses for mushy spots also if they haven't been changed yet.

You don't have to pull the cover off to change the water pump.
Might be a good idea to check the KDP if you are inclined, though my 01.5 had the kinda cover that retained the pin,and so does the 2k engine that's in there now.
(but I've heard that they can have the KDP clear to 02')

He said he was gonna check the KDP at the same time. Gonna have to teach you kids how to read someday. We can buy ya the school books but we can't keep your mind off the teacher.

Nope nope, i know that i didn't have to pull the cover off to do the water pump,

Turns out i ran outa time that day cause my part didn't come into the store until 2:30 PM, and i had some where to be in 2 hours,

But when i took the water pump off, all the blades seemed like they had been rubbing up against the housing, and the blades were all sharp on the edge But it didn't seem horrible, cleaned it up. and stuffed the new one on there, and after 25 mins of bleeding the coolant system, all seems well. And it seems like i've got more heat in the cab too,

And i also found out i need to replace both my hoses No fun, and i should stopped there, ahhwell,

It's going to cummins shop next week, so they'll point out some stuff that it needs while she's getting her valves adjusted !

Valve adjustment is a pretty easy job to as long as you do it one step at a time. There's a guide in here someplace if you do a search for valve adjustment. If you can't find it and want to try it let me know and I'll hunt it down for ya.
