Default Vp44 Pump woes ?

I first noticed some issues when i was going down a hill, and i dropped it into 2nd gear to " Engine break " i noticed the RPM's climb like normal, and then the truck would " Grab " and slow down almost as if you had hit the breaks, and the RPMs dropped. did this about 3-4 times, and only for a second or two each time,

Yesterday, i was getting ready for a nasty take off at a stop light, and the truck just didn't have any of it's getup and go like normal, until a few seconds later then tore through the intersection

Today was the WORST .... and i'm not joking. I had a PRIUS pull away from me from a stop light... A PRIUS .... i'll say it again, A PRIUS,

Now i don't own a rocket ship, but come-on that was horrible, i nearly cried as i walked away from Mrs.Dasiy ( My truck )

Any of this sound like a VP issue ? Or something ?

I have both a Low pressure light, and a fuel pressure gauge. ( previous owner )

The Low pressure light goes off when the gauge says it has at no less than 6 PSI of fuel pressure.

........ i am so ashamed, A PRIUS ?!

Have you checked for codes doing the key trick? That would help a lot with troubleshooting. If you have good fuel pressure, that basically leaves you with two things: either an APPS issue, or a failing VP44.

The only two codes i ever pull up is the " Over limit boost exceeded like 0293, and the other one telling you that there's a code in the ECU,

I'll check again, but i'm sure it'll tell me the same thing,

Where's that link for adjusting the APPS ??

Is there another way to acctualy test the VP failing ? Like rail pressures, or Graphing a voltage on something ? OR ... something,

I don't really want to drop 2K on my truck, when i have a new lease coming up,

Here's a link for the APPS adjustment.
APPS Sensor
If you need to replace it, get one of the Timbo units, much cheaper and just as good if not better than the Dodge unit.

If you don't have a fuel pressure guage where you can see it all the time that is the first priority that will tell you what the probem is here. Sounds to me like the LP is toast but let that go and it will cause a bad VP44.

I do have a fuel pressure gauge, And it never reads lower than 7 Psi under WOT,

And my truck has one of the Fass LP's W/O the filters'

The only positive way to test the VP is to pull it and have it bench tested at a Bosch facility which really isn't as bad as it sounds. Facilities are everyplace, they don't charge much to do it and although I won't call pulling and re-mounting the VP fun it's all that hard to do.

I would also recommend having the codes read with a real code reader and not just the on board diagnostics system. The on board system only shows a few emergency codes but won't show most of them.

I was a stupid moron, and didn't think about pulling the codes until after i un-hooked my batteries for the APPS re-learn,

That seemed to help ALOT, before i couldn't break traction in the rain when i was trying, now it's a giant PITA to drive any where, esp. around corners.

I'm gonna drive it back into work, and give it a quick scan, to see what happens,

What are the VP death codes ? Any and all,
