guys was comin home from work today and went to down shift into 4th and shelled my tranny now this is the thrid time i have shelled it in 4 months but everything in it is aftermarket I dont understand it because its 5th and thrid gear that goes eveytime any input would be awesome

 

I believe there is a nut that backs off, causing R and 5th to go kaput. Pretty easy fix the way I understand it. Someone can give a little more detail as how to fix it.

 

well when I had it went through they did something and put an upgraded shaft in it but now the whole shaft behind fouth is my new fifth so its not gonna be tha lock nut but I have had that happen before

 

who is doing the trans work? sounds like something is being missed. look up 5th gear nut fixes and you should find lots of info on this.

 

im in the same boat brother. i ordered a upgrade kit for mine , installing it soon as the weather settles down. seems that the nut fell off. how to fix get a new nut and fifth gear. reinstall torque down and tack weld nut in place. thats the way im going

 

well the first time i broke it i orderoed the nut kit cause i was drivin down the road and all off a sudden fifth gear just fell off but whatever the problem is now is something is shatering my gears in place and everything in there is aftermarket last time it went it complete ly stripped my 3rd and 5th aux but when my nut fell off i could still drive it just without 5th but now it makes horrible noise
