with fault code po253 do i need a new pump or can i have this one rebuilt????? THANX EVERYONE BEEN A HUGE HELP!!!

 

Can get a remand one and have the one that's in the truck sent back for a core. Won't be down as long that way.

 

I have a 99 as well this happened to a week ago driving down the road truck died won't start got the same code with that code there are some electrical stuff that needs to be checked before you rule that it is a dead vp. you say that you are getting fuel out of the injector lines is it alot of fuel? If you are getting what seems to be pressureized fuel out of the lines then I don't think its your vp. I wasn't getting fuel out of my vp even with it hot wired to the 6&7pins on the pump mine was a dead vp$$$$$$$$$

 

I might have to agree here. You may have other issues. Keep the fingers crossed. Check all your grounds and connections first. Doesn't sound like the pump failed

oh boy more chasing wires GREAT FUN.... well lets hope its not the vp because the cheapest new or remaned one i could find is $1220.. Well i dont know if I will get my buddys cobalt out of the garage in time to mess with it tonight but either way i will get it back in soon and let everybody know..... Thanx for the help and remember everyone lookin at this NO IDEA IS A BAD ONE at this point I will try anything befor i can save the money for a new vp So thanx again everyone let ya know what happens...

 

need to see if you are getting power to the # 7 pin on the wiring harness on the back of the pump. you didn't say if the fuel coming out of the lines was under pressure or not? do you have any chips on the truck? I just ordered a vp for $1030 from midwest fuel injection good people to work with. do you have the wire tapped on the vp for the comp box?

 

yes wire is tapped to edge comp

 

Might consider getting a Wire tap ma-hoosit AKA.stealth wire tap,I've heard that a bad connection can mess up the VP,I just don't tap anything anymore,I had a VP go south after only about 3k miles,so that was a $1000 lesson
