Default has anyone ever tried this???

im replacing my clutch this weekend in my 5spd and i was wondering if anyone had ever taken the time to re-torque the 5th gear nut in the trans without totally re-building it and if so, how would you do it?

If it's still in place there is an inspection plate back there if I remember right that gives you access to it. Once it falls yer screwed but if it's still in place you are good to do it through that hole. Been years since I rebuilt mine but I'm pretty sure there was one there.

i didnt know they had a problem with the 99 5 spd i thought they only had problems before the 24 valve yrs then they started putting a lock nut on them that is the replacement that you get if you had one of the early yr trannys
