Default Missing Sway Bar?!?

I have a 99 CTD 4x4 2500 auto short bed extended cab, and I just noticed that I don't have a rear sway bar. The one that is "U" shaped and goes around the rear diff. Does anyone know if I need one, if it never had one, or how I can get one?

Also I am running 33x 12.50 bias ply tires if that makes a difference. Thanks in advance!

It was an option, you can find a or buy one and it'll bolt right up. Never had one on the 99 dually or 2000 2500 so I couldn't tell you the difference with or without one...

It's part of the camper package that was available. It was designed for the heavy slide in campers to keep a top heavy truck stable. For most anything else it's completely useless.

If you're going to be towing fairly heavy on a regular basis, it would be worth looking into putting one on. If not, about all it's going to do is make your ride a bit stiffer.

Not to mention ladder bars help with spring wrap. Both the swaybars from my Cherokee found a new home on the wall in my garage years ago. I wish I had a dollar for every time somebody told me.." You can't run with no swaybars on the street, you'll flip your Jeep." The way I see it, if you drive like an idiot, you can flip anything with two or four wheels under it.
