Default South Bend Clutch? New Input Shaft?

was looking at upgrading my clutch to the big south bend clutch. and finally seen i also had to upgrade my input shaft on my 5sp to an added cost of 500 on top of the grand i was going to spend on the clutch. why didn't i see this before til i look at rollin smoke diesel? is this an option or should i re-think my build. cause spending a grand was something i was ok with, but add 500 more. i just want to run about 400hp, smoke some dumb mustangs. it's a street truck, i do pull. i guess if i run the stock replacment that can handle 360hp i really can't bitch, it gives me money to work on my other projects, after all this is my driver. i'm driving a 01 ram2500 cummins 5sp 4x4, stock for now, after the clutch i'm planning on quadzilla with the pulse box and dual exhuast, i'd run stacks but its a short box and i do use my bed sometimes. then later someday a small set of injectors, say stage II. thanx

While I'm not exactly an expert in the matter, I would highly suggest saving up the money to do things right the first time around. If not it could cost you much more in the long run. I have a '96 5 speed in need of a clutch, and I will for sure be putting in the upgraded shaft.
I have heard just too many horror stories over my years on the forums from people who didn't do the upgrade. My .02

Wait until you have money to do it right the first time around. consider it insurance...
