I am looking at my outer axle shaft on my 01 4x4 as I replace the bearing hub assembly and count 18 splines.I am wondering where I get the spline count when I decide to put a front locker on my truck.

 

I'm pretty sure it's 30 spline. You need the know the other end that is in the carrier.

 

i know on my 94 cummins 2500 with the dana 60 front its a 30 count on the inner side

 

ok..so I was looking at the case a little closer and saw some numbers & -30 so I am going to assume that is the spline count,thanks for the help guys.

 

I thought in 2000 or 2001 they changed them to 32 spline I remember reading somewhere

 

I thought I remember 32 also. It could be on the newer (02) non-cad axles. Let me get back in my books and find it.

 

The newer axles are not Dana but AAM. I'm sure Dana did not change the Dana 60 spline count on account of parts availability... ie Carriers, lockers, axles, they would have to change all of those parts if they changed it. It's the most popular rear out there.

 

im pretty sure its 30 as well, because if you look at the dynotrax website they say you can upgrade the 94-01 dana 60s to 32 spline with their kit. AAMs are either 32s or 33 spline if i remember right
