I never smelled it. I will go do that. I got the receipt and it was about 150 miles put on it. I had a quarter tank and filled it up. Its weird cause sometime it will pull to 70 mph then start boggin down. Idles fine. If it is a bad pump, should i upgrade to a Hot rod pump? and how long does it take for them to get one to me?

I do have a extra filter. Ill change it and see. Why would it gel up? its not terribly cold.

K Smells like the fuel conditioner i put in it. No gas smell. It was doin this before the conditioner. Only code i get off my odometer is 1693 and only one off the obdII port is 0236. No more 0216.

 

If you end up replacing the VP just go with a SO Pump. Such as a Industrial Injection or Blue Chip.

 

VP took a dump. thanks to Blue Chip got a special X next day. Dealership installed it and this pump rocks compared to my stock So pump. Thanks to everyone who helped and especially chip at blue chips.

Better fuel economy noticed right away. Only bad thing, when its cold its LOUD and you can tell it dont wanta run till its warmed up. More power too on the seat-o-pants dyno

 

If you installed that pressure gauge poorly I can see why it would smell of fuel in the cab...

Mine has been in my truck now for over 5 years and not had a single problem with fuel in the cab...


No ISOLATOR here and no problems... I used 150 PSI nylon tubing... I hardly doubt that a mear 15 PSI is going to cause a problem...

 

I tapped a factory banjo bolt on the pump and put the connector for the tubing into it. ran the tubing into the cab and to the gauge. it was a auto meter gauge, i think 0 to 15 psi. So it was at max pretty much most of the time. but the gauge started smellin like fuel after a little while.

 

If the guage was pegged all the time its possible to rupture the internal bourdon tube. Did it leak at all?

You should have had a 0-30 psi guage.

 

It did leak a little. I dont remember where, as its been over a year since i removed it. I need to get a 0 to 30 gauge. I was pretty sure peggin it all the time was going to ruin it.

Hey Dr. Evil are you still plumbed fuel to the back of your gauge ??? No isolator???

 

Should have never taken that guage out.......Hopefully you got bad fuel and it ain't he VP

 

I am - plastic tubing as well...5 years both on trucks and not leaking a drop, and the guages work like the day I put them in.
