you have the same problem i had a couple months ago, inside the fuse panel under the hood, youll see two cables that look like small battery cables coming into the box, screwed to those is a fusible like, 140 amp style, it may have blown, which is what caused my problems. you have to go to a chrysler dealership to have it ordered as auto zone, napa, oriellys or any other major chain store does not carry them and cannot even order them. check that out first. then we'll go from there, also whats the reading your getting from the alternator??

I have witnessed a similar situation with my 2001 ram. My alternator quit charging and I heard the chime and looked down to the gauge cluster and noticed the voltage needle doing a quick sweep down to 8v and remain there. so I pull over for a check under the hood and take off again. 5 minutes down the road, it did the same thing again. I checked the battery voltage which indicated 12.5v, while the dash gauge indicates 8v. So I was able to complete my 100mile trip with accessories off. IMO, the gauge or pmc is programmed 2 do this to make it obvious to you that you have a problem with the charging system. I changed the brushes in my alternator. Price: $10, experience: Priceless!
