Default Speedometer Quit

My speedometer has just quit on me the last 2 days and then starts working again. It's done this twice. last night on the way home from the lake it quit on me then started working after about 5mins. and worked all the way home. Today when I left the house no speedometer again then it started working. Just got home again and everything is working fine. Any ideas?

When it does it check the cruise control. Most likely the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) should be on the transfer case.

No problem man, if the Cruise Control doesn't work then most likely the VSS.

definately would say the VSS, mine went out and my abs and brake light would stay on but that is because my VSS in the rear pumpkin (i dont know why) so if it is just the speedo just change VSS and be done with it.

Man thats alot of VSS in one post

I agree, it's the VSS. Mine was doing the same thing, sometimes it would work fine, other times it wouldn't. It ended up being the wire going to my VSS was all chewed up. I didn't even have to spend any money this time. So check the wire before you buy a new speed sensor. You could get lucky.
