Vp44 advice/experience question
Ok gents, new the the forum, so first off ill introduce myself. My names Jared and i have a 2000 ram 2500 with the 24v. Over the period of 4 or 5 months, ive had issues that have me believing my vp44 has issues. Over the period the truck would start, run and drive excellent. But when you shut it off, you would have to wait for at least an hour before it would start back up. Note: if you turned the key to the on position you would not hear any clicking or noise at all coming from the vp44. But after an hour it would start back up and run fine. Towards the end i started randomly getting dead pedal. Id have to pull off the road, pump it fast then it would suddenly roar back, spit some smoke and run fine again. Then about a month ago, i got dead pedal that wouldnt go away. So i shut it down, waited an hour, and it roared to life and ran fine. 10 mins later the truck shut down and refuses to restart. From what ive read, it sounds like an electrical issue inside the ecm on top of the vp44. So i guess my question is, what do you guys think? Mechanical? Electrical? And has anybody done the electrical fix themselves? Thanks in advance!

Sounds just like what happened to my 2001 the vp44 went out replaced it and runs like new replace the lift pump at the same time would recommend upgrading the lift pump to a high performance aftermarket ie. Fass or airdog pumps also would recommend upgrading to the high output vp44 wish I had done the latter
