Not sure at all can't hear my lift pump though didn't turn truck on at all gonna borrow a friend's tomorrow I'm hoping my truck didn't pooch the injection pump just the lp but I ran a scanner and it pulled up about 20 different codes the only codes I figured were significant was p1688 does this mean that my ip is definitely done for? My truck didn't shut off at all it idled fine but I gently tapped on the pedal and it stuttered a little I didn't want to rev it any idea what could be going on?

I would test the fuel pressure before you tried to do anything else.

My 1998.5 did the same thing when accelerating and it was the crankshaft sensor, I think these Dodge/Cummins are good trucks once you get them tuned in, you just never know what the PO has done to them, Good Luck.

Thanks guys I didn't check all the down to the CBS code since the truck has been turning on with one turn and it would be a lot cheaper than lp or ip also the truck didn't seem to lose power on the way home in third so I'm hoping that's what it could be and I'll be sure to get a fuel gauge I really hope that's what it is I'm hoping to start work again tomorrow thanks guys! Really appreciate it I'll keep yall updated when I get the parts!

Maybe check all the connections at the tranny and any other thing that might have been disturbed during the trans work. Like Ghostman said check Fuel pressure also write down all the codes you have and then reset the OBD2 by disconnecting the batteries and then recheck codes.
Could be any number of things from APPS or cam sensor to electrical wiring or IP/FP but codes would be helpfull.

Disconnecting the battery wont reset them. It will take a code reader to reset the codes.

Never worked when I have ever tried it. Always took a code reader to clear mine. Unless the fault was corrected, but then sometimes it still took a code reader. But all these trucks have different personalities. And respond differently to different things. But is he already has a scanner why not just clear them and see what comes back.
