Default Is 244k too many miles??

Think about buying a 2001 Dodge Cummins. And I was wondering if 244k is too many miles. And what problems might come with it?

mine has over 268000 and i will drive it anywhere.
It's all about how it was maintained.
Do you know the owner?
they are very dependable trucks.

I wouldn't worry about the mileage unless it was 400k or more. Mine has 252k right now and are going to do a 10 hour hot shot from Alabama to South Carolina and back this Saturday. Not worried one bit.

Thank you both for the quick response. Im looking forward to buying this truck. It's in great looking condition. I'm not sure who the original owner is. I'm buying it from a dealership.

Just make sure to look it over good. There is a possibility of it having a 53 block. Slim but still a possibility. There are block number on the driverside of the block near the oil pan. If it is a 53, look on the passenger side to see if you see dried coolant. If you do RUN. If not continue looking at the vehicle.

If the truck doesn't have a after market lift pump plan on adding one as well as a gauge to monitor fuel pressure. Bosch specs the pump for 10 PSI minimum, I wouldn't run mine less than 15 PSI. But good luck its difficult to find a good used diesel truck at a good price.

Thanks for the info Ghostman. I was not aware of the "53 block" issue. I will be sure and look. And as far as the lift pump I'm aware of that hopefully the previous own has already replaced it. If not I plan on it. Which after market pump would you recommend?

I would recommend a FASS 95 or 150
