Default 245 HP auto

I've owned my truck 4 yrs. Just today I discovered that someone put in a 245HP H.O. engine in my truck. It is confirmed that the engine came from a 2001 quadcab 6 spd, from Chicago Ill. They put in engine with #matching ecm,vp-44,& correct injectors. Not sure if it is a hy-35 or hx turbo.I've put 30,000 on the truck since I've owned it,it runs well, with some fuelknock.Ive seen guys put manual trans in for swap& change the ecm but I now have a 6 spd ecm with a 47re,but seems to workfine. I'm pretty sure my waste gate is stuck close to shut,I get 23 to 25 lbs of boost, boost gauge moves pretty good with the throttle movement. Any one else have this setup? I've never heard it mentioned before.

I think once you put in some injectors you will see the boost climb up around 35PSI. There shouldn't be a problem with a H.O. VP44 if that's what the engine had. Most of the problems I have heard of is when someone replaces a S.O. VP 44 for a H.O. VP44 (stock ECM) no programmer, but that's just what I have heard never tried it. I think as long as the ECM (or you use a programmer) is the right one for the H.O. engine it should be fine.

I wouldn't worry to much about RV275's, I would go a little bigger maybe a set of 50hp's. If they kept the turbo off the 6 speed you should have an HX

6 speed turbo is a hx35. It will have a rubber line leading into the compressor side ( front side ) of the turbo. Automatics came with the hy35 turbo. They have a solid metal line leading into the compressor side of the turbo. The hx35 turbo has a slightly bigger compressor wheel inside the housing and a different style wastegate. Not much different between the two.

It's the hy for sure, still deciding what to do next for turbo/injector up grades.I pulled the vp44 to check the timing key,it is the right one&in the right way.I don't like the slight fuel knock though like my engines quiet. To be announced what I do next.
