Default Low oil on dipstick

So I'm in need of an oil change it's got about 6500 miles or maybe a little more on it and I pulled the dipstick the other day to check it and it's about 1.5 quart low the pan leaks but doesent every really drio on the ground I also have zero blow by if you go by the kettle test I get a little bit of oil in the puke bottle and and nothing that really comes out of my breather tube maybe a slight haze but nothing really, is this something to worry about or do you guys think this is a combination of overdue for an oil change and leaking it out of the pan or what

Could be out of the oil pan like you say. How long has it taken you to go 6500 miles?

I don't normally let it go that long but I kind of didn't realize it had been that long sense I changed it

Don't worry about it. Continue to fix leaks as you have time and inclination. Just keep an eye on the oil. Mine reads low unless I wait a long time for all to drain back to the pan. Perhaps do a fill including filter, start the engine, let sit overnight, check oil level. Let that be your "normal full mark". Write it down.

You should also write down your start sequence for when you're having to diagnose a problem. Key to run note lights, gauge change etc, key to start note gauges, then note gauges under normal driving conditions at highway speed with warm engine.

They must have redone the web site. At least my login worked.

Also my front cover seems to be leaking a bit too but seems to be mostly coming from back of the pan and drivers side I went ahead and changed the oil in it cus it definitely needed it I'm not to worried about it like I said I have no blow by and the truck never has a burning oil smell or anything out of the pipe just diesel smell and a year is a long time to go with out an oil change especially with a leak or two I also get a little oil that gathers in my puke bottle but nothing crazy just a little
