Happy thanksgiving guys! I have a 2001 24v 6speed CTD my powersteering is acting up sometimes it moans and the steering wheel barely moves unless the truck is moving and other times it acts perfect i was wondering is the PSP going bad in the truck? And secondly are the brakes powered by this pump? Thanks again guys.

 

Yes I believe a power steering pump issue affects your brakes as well. I recently had to replace that pesky seal between my vacuum pump and replace my power steering pump as well as the drive dogs between the two. i had poor brakes until after repairing and replacing this stuff then everything got much better. also discovered a pin hole on my little black vacuum line coming off of the pump so replaced that as well. You can only get one of the drive gears from cummins and i found a gentleman out in vermont i believe that makes the other one. He has you tube videos on how to do all the replacements.
