What do u guys thnk about this? I'm looking at buying another Cummins. This one is a 99 automatic sport. The engine was just rebuilt and the truck has a brand new 47RE in it. Needs some body work on the doors and fenders. I am able to get it for 3500. The only thing making me hesitate is that the seller says he is a mechanic and rebuilt it himself. Doesn't have much proof of what was all done. Just his word and a box of bearings he said were the originals. If something does happen with a bad rebuild, could I get my money back and possibly a profit by parting out the truck? The main reason I was buying it was to fix it enough for my fiancé to drive this winter. It also needs a turbo. No big deal on that. Should I risk it or not?

 

Gotta weigh the costs, pro/cons, possible loss/gain, as well as your time and patience against each other. No one knows your situation better than you do. Never done it myself but I'd imagine parting out to be a pain.

 

Not directed towards anyone specific, just thought it was funny as crap.

 

I know the trans alone is worth about 2500. If worst came to worst I can make money on parting it out. Tearing stuff apart goes easy when I have blow torches. If it does work out and my fiancé doesn't like it maybe I'll just have two for myself.
