I run 20psi idle, 16psi WOT.

at one time I ran 24psi idle with my stacked lift pump setup I used to have before I got my 150gph pump.

try to keep it above 14psi at all times. 13-14psi is where the fuel return valve opens to return fuel from the vp44.

fuel is both the lubricant and coolant for the vp44 so the more fuel flowing through it the better.

7psi WOT is going to damage your injection pump. bosh specs call for a minimum of 10psi while operating the engine and minimum of 7psi for cranking the engine to start it.

as for hard starts? don't know of anyone with hard starts running 20-25psi idle pressure. Mine runs 20-21psi and fires in 1/2 a crank. not a new vp either.... this vp has been ran hard for years. not a single peep out of it.

Only effects trucks that didnt have a flash version which didn't reduce lift pump on time while starting. Higher pump pressures offer no power benefit, only real benefit would be keeping the pump cooler but those results would likely be very limited!
