Default Questions, new to diesel

I bought a 99 1 ton dually 4X4 with 5spd with 170k to pull my 8500lb. 28" toy hauler and frankly since it gets the same in town fuel mileage as my V6 Dakota, it may become my daily driver.

First additions will be a fuel pressure gauge and a lift pump. An exhaust manifold and exhaust system, Then since 3 gear rakes I will rebuild the trans with the 5th gear upgrade and a better clutch. I have done some research and need some conformation that I'm on the right track.

A Autometer 30lb fuel pressure gauge is the same money as Glo Shift 3 gauge set. I normally use Autometer but have heard positive remarks about Glo Shift. I thought a 35lb. boost gauge and 1500 degree exhaust temp gauge. Is a exhaust temp gauge really needed for my use? Is Glo Shift products any good?

Next will be a FASS lift pump. HD series or Titanium? 95 or 150. For my current use a 95 will be fine but for a few dollars more is there any harm in getting the 150 in case of future upgrades. ( I have muscle cars, I realize things can't be left alone) That said what would be the first performance upgrade after a Edge tuner or are there better alternatives?
What is a good exhaust manifold that will last? I believe a 4" exhaust system (with out muffler) will work fine.

I know it is a lot to ask, I've been a Master Tech most of my life working in shops that also did a lot of drag cars and classics and I was the man in the shop the got that work, but other than maintenance and basic repairs my diesel knowledge is thin.

Thank you for reading and your advise.

You really should have an egt guage since you pull a heavy trailer.
I've heard some good and bad about glo sift gauges. But thats all I know because I don't have them.
The 95 fuel pump should be just fine, but if you plan on upgrades later save yourself the hassle of having to up grade later and get the 150.
The 4'' exhaust system will be fine. The only diference with the 5'' exhaust is it's louder.
If I can, I would also recommend a draw straw for the fuel tank. The draw straw goes all the way down to the bottom of the tank. And upgrading the main fuel line from the tank to the fuel pump to a 1/2'' size so the fuel pump won't starve of fuel.

I have a glowshift fuel pressure gaugewhen I first put it on I read 18 psi at idle and eventually drop to around 15 to 16 psi at idle and after I installed my edge Juice with Attitude my fuel pressure was back up to 19 to 20I think that I would go with Auto Meterand I would go bigger than a 35lb boost gauge just in case...cs and cts monitors have all the gauges you need.

Fass or airdog id go with a 150 just in case you get bitten by the diesel bug and want to add more upgrades. Forget the draw straw and spend the extra $165 and get a sump kit totally worth it
