I never figured out how many miles per tank before, but I get typically 17 mpg on average driving and I have gotten 20 mpg highway. I figure my mileage at least 3x a week and I dont usually let my tank drop below 3/4 full cause it costs too much to fill it.

i just figured out 17 mpg and 500 to the tank and that was around town with the juice on 6 rolling smoke, running at the local drag strip (13.1), lots of spinning tires and running 100 mph up the jersey turnpike. in my mind that dont seem to bad

A 99 with low mileage could VP related, it could be TC related or even just dirty sensors. Big lifts and tires will drop the economy a little on the CTD but not by a grand amount.

I'm thinking that could be part of the problem, it's diesel it needs to work.

Here is a write up I did for the 2nd Gen crowd to gain better MPG from your trucks...
Better MPG's

It works so good I can pull up to...

(Yes my ScanGauge II is calibrated!)

I get 16-17 on average tank, including some light hauling.
Short trips where the engine is not warmed up seems to be my biggest MPG killer. Other than the obvious, smoke(wasted fuel, unless you are smoking a tail gaiter), speeding (over 65mph), accelerating and hauling.
my best is 22.5 over 550miles. 20 is not uncommon if i am on the fwy empty the whole time.

Mopar1973man's write up with boost/pyro readings is what I'm using and the overhead readings/trends support it.
It also supports what the old timers keep saying...slow'em down & run speed limit or less.
On the interstates & freeways, I find a big rig doing 55-60 mph in the 70 and just fall in behind 5 to 6 lengths to avoid road grit.

Here's a post on it...

well, I just hand calculated my YTD in fuel purchases and I'm seeing an average of 13.9L/100km - this is way below what the overhead tells me - more than 20% so if anyone actually uses that thing - don't it doesn't work very well.
That works out to 16.92 Miles per US Gallon - so far 90% city driving so if I take it on a road trip this year it should improve to about 22 I figure.
