I have an 01 Dodge Ram 2500 with 6spd. I have looked on this site and have not found a similar issue that I have with my cruise. I have had some issues with either my cruise control not coming on or randomly shutting off. My truck has the vacuum servo under the battery. The indicator light in the dash shows that it is on and the steering wheel switch works. I have checked the vacuum lines, no problems there. I recently rebuilt the vacuum pump and replaced any dodgy vacuum lines. I think it might be an APPS problem. With the ignition off, I pump the pedal four or five times, start the truck and the cruise will work perfectly. The pedal with drop away from my foot noticeably. However, after awhile the pedal drop is less and less noticeable, until the cruise will stop working. Under cruise control it seems to surge some at speed, sometimes noticeable sometimes not. The pedal has been touchy since I have owned the truck, for over 7yrs. The touchy pedal is very noticeable at slow speed, usually 1st gear on somewhat rough ground. As you start to bounce you cannot control the speed. Sometimes there also seems to be a dead spot in the pedal. The injection pump has about 70,000 miles and I have added a FASS fuel pump after the last injection pump died.

No codes. The touchy pedal and surge under cruise control has been around since I bought the truck. The surge is a lot better since the bigger injectors and installing Edge with Attitude.
