I have a 1999 dodge cummins 3500i need to change the oil pan gasket I was wondering how do I go about changing it I have the tranny and clutch out of the truck right now replacing both of them I was wanting to know if anyone has changed the oil pan gasket with tranny out im not sure how to jack up the engine if there is nothing behine it to hold engine I think it would drop onto the oil pan if I pulled the motor mounts thank you for any help I can get

 

got it out I had the tranny already out of truck so I pulled off the transmission adapter that bolts to back of engine jacked up front of engine gave me enough clearance to get my hand in and unbolt oil pickup tube and pulled oil pan out twords the rear of the engine came right out was a lot easier then I thought it would be bottom of engine looks like its still new nice and shinny

 

 

I got the oil pan back on boy getting the oil pickup tube back on can be a real pain in the a## had my girlfriend hold back of pan up while I squeeze my fingers in wow tight fit well all buttoned back up now just waiting for my rebuilt nv4500hd to come in and install my south bend sdd 3250-5 and will be all set for the dyno
