1. Sounds like factory torque management is in place (get a smarty and a boost fooler).
2. First search on here for images. If you don't find any...Get a size 1 flat screw driver and a pointed pick. Use the screw driver to lift one end of the snap ring. Slide the pick under or behind the snap ring and carefully wriggle out the snap ring. Once the snap ring is out the silencer will be free to remove.
