Default Valve cover gasket?

I'm going to adjust my valves. If by chance I can't reuse my current gasket, it will cost $118 locally. I can get it for about $60 online. Is it advisable to order one before I tear into the project. What is the likelihood that the existing will not be viable? If its not and I don't order one ahead of time I'll be stuck paying $118 to get it back on the road.

Is there a gasket or o ring on the front breather?

iv done a quite a few valve jobs on the 24 valves, 20 or so i would guess. never had a problem with a torn gasket, just be easy on it taking it out, its a pretty durable gasket to begin with. heavy duty rubber, you should be fine
