Default Front end problems!!!

I was driving home from work the other day and made a turn and heard truck make a popping noise in the front end. Well the only time it pops is when I shift gears. Mainly from 4th-5th at about 1700rpms. Don't pop when in the throttle but taking off if you run it up to about 2000rpms and let off the throttle it'll pop. Thought it maybe u joint going bad so had it replaced but still pops. Anyone experience this? Thanks guys

Is your truck 4x4? If so I would probably look at the axle joints. A pop could be thousand of thing's really depends on what it sounds like.

Yes truck is 4x4. I noticed today that if your running highway speeds and you let off the throttle then get back in it, it jerks a lot harder than it normally did. And that's the only thing that worries me is it could be numerous of things. I don't believe it's tranny issue bc shifts as normal as it did the day I bought it.

Pinion slap could cause this issue but i would think whoever installed your u-joint would have mentioned an issue. Transfer case issues could also cause something similar. Have you jacked it up and looked for play in the common locations.

No haven't really had time to get it in the air to check it out. But I've noticed that it sounds like the pop is coming from the passenger side. Starting to wonder if its just an axle u joint.

That doesn't really explain the play in and out of the throttle. axle stubs have the reluctor ring depending on the year, we just had a axle joint fail at the shop and take the stub out, and its very possible for it to take the bearing out. If the bearing was popping it would have been bad enough that you would have already heard a roar. Imo

Yea had the wheel bearing replaced and still didn't solve the problem. Had a buddy look at it this morning and he seems to think it maybe transfer case problems. I know one thing, I love my truck but she's about to make me pull my hair out.
