Need help with problem of idling.
I just got done with a 2 and a half hour trip. Drove about 70-80 mph the whole way. When i finally came to a stop at a stop sign i noticed rpms stayed around 1000 instead of normal. So of course when i went to pull out, it feels as if it wants to stall in 2nd. It doesnt, just feels really close to stalling.
What could cause this problems? Asked on cumminsforum with no real help... Only time i ever had this problem was once before on the same exact trip

Hmm, I remember you askin me this a while back... to me it sounds like either a TPS issue or a Fuel issue, did you ever try grabing any codes or relearning your tps. And its only happening when you take these long trips right?
Well sadly thats more than i can do. Im out of town without even a wrench to take the terminals off
ill do that when i get home friday. But i will check codes with smarty in the morning. I lovin the smarty by the way. Getting way better mileage

An easy, tool-less thing to check would be where the APPS is sitting hen it is on high idle. Pop the hood, remove the cover from the APPS, and see if the linkage isn't going all the way to the stop when your foot is off the throttle. If not, something may be binding.
Front left corner of the engine:

Pull the cover off and this is what you will see:

If it's at 1000rpm, and you can pull the top of the linkage towards you slightly, there may be binding.
