liftin my dodge
Just looking for some opinion or exp. on lifting my 99 cummins 2500. I am thining like a 5 inch lift with 35s on it but not sure which is the most economical lift or if there are any suprises to look for when lifting it up? Thanks to all!!
its all about your personal taste. i personally cant stand trucks with way to big of tire jammed in the fenderwell, rubbing or not. looks cheap to me, looks freakin awsome to others, to each their own. get your old measuring stick out and do a little figuring. where you want the top of your tires to ride and such, how tall, how wide, what kind of offset would look best, ect, ect before you go buy a lift kit and tires. and the bigger the tires the more you break stuff got the t-shirt!!!
kind of random but does anybody know the differences in the '08 front springs and the 2nd and 3rd gen trucks? i got a set from a buddy and i know the leafs will fit but the fronts i tried bringing to a shop and they were dead set against putting them on
any thoughts?
any thoughts?
I don't know about the 08 springs. I just put a 2.5" hell bent leveling kit in mine. I did the optional sway bar drop too. It went well. They make a nice product. finished well in durable powder coat. While there, the shocks where mostly shot, I replaced them with Bilstein 5100's. The truck rides like good - like stock. Handles better (probably the new shocks). You can measure you ride height and see what you want to go with. I did this, from the ground (while parked on a good flat surface, like a garage floor) to say the bottom of the fender. Mine was 37 1/2" at front, 41 1/4" in the rear, so I went with a 2.5 kit. Although not level now by measuring it, it looks it by eye. Looks 100% better, clears 35's too. It's not too bad of a job. I did not have or use a spring compressor. had to disconnect the trac bar on the passenger side mount and also both lower trailing arms at the axle side to get the clearance.
