I know of one truck here locally that just the lift pump circuit went bad in his ecm. Found out later that it is not a real common problem but that it does happen from time to time. Sounds like what you have going on.

Sent with a Droid RAZR in one hand and 14,000 volts in the other.

The computers are on the firewall behind the air filter. One of them is the ecm. I don't recall which one though. Pretty easy to get to when you remove the filter housing. You can use an ecm from any 2nd gen but I'm not sure if you would need to get it reflashed. I know 3rd+ gens a new comp has to be flashed to the truck.

I just talked to Dodge and they said the would need the whole truck to test the ecm.

Bad info....the one behind the air filter is the pcm and auto and stick ones are different plus 98-00 from 01-02 pcms. The ecm is on the side of the block below the injection pump. The ecm is where i think your problem is.

It also has to be within the same year range like the pcm. If you put an 01 auto ecm on a 99 stick shift it will only turn 2000 rpm in first gear.
