Cracked block?
Put some Dye in the coolant passages, seal up the block, and pressurize....while the pressurized, get a spray bottle with soapy solution and start rolling the block over to look for leaks. Also check inside the crankcase also and the bottom of the bores.

On the dyes, they have dye for the coolant, for the oil, etc. You can pick the stuff up at any good auto parts house. Napa always carrys it since they deal with commercial shops

When you pressurize everything, have a gauge screwed in, and let it stand under pressure. If it holds pressure, your good.
